Verse 3

* * *

Not exalting the gifted

prevents quarreling.

Not collecting treasures

prevents stealing.

Not seeing desirable things

prevents confusion of the heart.

The wise therefore

rule by emptying hearts

and stuffing bellies,

by weakening ambitions

and strengthening bones.

If men lack knowledge and desire,

then clever people will not try to interfere.

If nothing is done,

then all will be well.

Comments on the Tao Te Ching by Gabriel Raam:

Gabriel Raam, philosopher, thinker and founder of the Fifth Way (en.5thway.com) gives commentary on the enigmatic Tao Te Ching by Lau Tzu.

In these following fascinating sessions with his students, Gabriel introduces a new perspective which he calls “the consciousness view” on the famous book of Tao.

In the spirit of the Fifth Way, Gabriel doesn’t give speeches or long monologues but goes into a true dialogue with his students and gives fresh and new meaning to the Tao Te Ching.

Verse after verse Gabriel reveals that the Tao Te Ching is still as relevant and as important as when it was written 2700 years ago in ancient China…
